Abuse, addiction, and unhealed trauma are tearing apart lives and communities across America — shattering families, fueling cycles of violence, and draining our schools, healthcare, and justice systems. Too often, these wounds stay buried in fear and shame.

The Break the Silence Tour brings them into the light through The Boy in the Basement — an inspirational film paired with live survivor panels, mental health experts, and local advocates, turning awareness into action.

Filmed in Fresno, Clovis, and Reedley with local talent and crew, this story is rooted in community resilience, which is why the tour begins here. Every ticket helps expand its reach, bringing awareness, conversation, and hope to more cities across the nation.

This is more than a film tour — it’s a movement to break the silence, confront the roots of abuse and addiction, and spark hope nationwide.

THE DIRECTORS

The vision behind The Boy in the Basement comes from two storytellers driven to confront silence with truth — and turn pain into a fight for hope.

MARTINS SAMUEL

Martins Samuel is a bilingual filmmaker, screenwriter, director, and founder of The Begin Network. A New York Film Academy graduate, his work focuses on diverse, inspiring narratives, including writing and directing The Fisherman, Revelations and Somewhere Else. Martins is redefining inspirational storytelling with narratives that break stereotypes and empower human dignity.

TEMIDAYO IBITOYE

Temidayo Ibitoye is a Nigerian filmmaker, entrepreneur, and founder of Dinovate Studios. A graduate of the New York Film Academy and Harvard Kennedy School, he is dedicated to telling authentic stories that spark change and amplify marginalized voices. He directed the award-winning documentary series Borderlands and has led many projects in partnership with global organizations, including the United Nations.
